Default Fuel alternatives!

In the advent of other fuel alternatives such as LPG, Hydrogen, natural gas, ethanol and the likes, is it now the time for us to shift away from Diesel? Last night it was broadcast on almost all news channels about the impending increase (again for nth time) on gasoline products, well not quite a surprise right?

The question now is:
1. Are we really ready for such big/bold decision to replace gasoline as our primary fuel intake?
2. Do our local dealer for such alternatives ready to supply the needs?
3. Will the Government support such initiatives?
4. Does it really need to go this far, just to save on gas?

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that these alternative fuels run on diesel engines. Unlike gas engines, diesel engines are designed to use almost any combustible material, including charcoal and hemp (yes, marijuana! - http://fornits.com/curiosity/hemp/abc.htm ). Can you imagine all the vehicles on Edsa burning hemp? Kahit gaano ka-traffic, happy-happy lahat ng motorista.
