helo pipol! noob lang ako dito.. although antagal ko na nakaregister.. haha. anyway, i just thought that this site could be used as a medium to discuss a current problem facing the philippines. recently, nagkaron ng conference sa skul na inattendan namin.. dean paquis was there, the president of philippine nurse's association. along with other deans of nursing from other schools. it's all about JPEPA. madami akong natutunan.
to give you guys a little background, JPEPA stands for japan - philippines economic partnership agreement. basically parang free trade ito. hindi pa nagkaroon ng free trade agreement ang pilipinas sa ibang bansa except nung sa amerika dati. ngaun, the government is trying to forge an agreement with the japanese. pero ampangit ng terms.. f ree trade siya in the sense na mawawala or mababawasan ang tax na babayaran pag inimport ang products from philippines to japan and vise versa. the advantage? sobrang mura ang bilihin from japan. tapos, we get to import products to japan with less/no tax. result? masaya ang consumers. mura ang bilihin eh. pero pano ang businessmen natin? ang mga magsasaka? mga mangingisda? mga factory?.. mahihirapan na silang makipag compete with japan's cheaper imported products. . diba? tapos mas pinalala pa ng fact na 238 Products from the philippines ang hindi kasali sa agreement na to. meaning, 238 products ang may tax pa rin pag inimport to japan.. eh ilan ang products na hindi pinayagan ng pilipinas na pumasok sa bansa natin without tax? DALAWA! 2! DEUX! DOS! ano ang produktong yun?.. kanin at asin. pinyagan nating magpasok ang japan ng mga produktong walang tax pwera lang ang KANIN AT ASIN. pero hinayaan nating pagbawalan nila tayong magpasok ng 238 na produkto sa bansa nila na walang tax. hindi ba lugi tayo?! 2 vs. 238?! bakit ganun? bobo ba tayo? madami pang discrepancy sa agreement na to.. masyadong madami so i'm giving you guys a link and you could go check it out. this agreement is yet to be approved or rejected by the senate.. walang revisions na pwedeng gawin ang senado. it's either oo or hindi. if you're disgusted as i am with JPEPA, let's all unite and help the junkjpepa movement. you could write to the senators and let your voices be heard. letters and petitions may be sent until october 23. tapos mag bobotohan na sila.. madaming orgs ang anti dito. go go go! |

Here's the PCIJ analysis of JPEPA: INSIDE PCIJ » JPEPA to encourage trade in hazardous and toxic waste
